Hi there! We are so thrilled that you chose to visit our page. We are a newly founded club at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia whose purpose is to educate, encourage, and implement restorative practices in our university and surrounding community. What are restorative practices you ask? Let us explain:

Restorative Justice is a concept and a process that is often viewed as an alternative to traditional criminal justice practices. It has historically been used in traditional African cultures to address harms within their community. It involves voluntary cooperation between a victim, offender, and the community. Restorative Justice and restorative practices are used to restore harm, facilitate open and honest conversation, and propose potential resolutions to the situation.

One great practice of Restorative Justice is the use of storytelling to rebuild connections between the offender and the community. We as a community should be more willing to assist individuals in their recovery and re-assimilation into society. That way, they are more likely to be successful! Our hope for this project is that it brings awareness to individual struggles and serve as a reminder of our inherent humanistic connections.

Enjoy!
